INDIA - Golden triangle Highlight, 6 days

 

Day 1  Hong Kong - Delhi

Depart Hong Kong for Delhi by Cathay Pacific Airways.

Met upon arrival at Delhi International airport and transfer to your hotel.  Delhi, India’s capital city, with a thousand years of history is a city of contrasts that combines a unique ambience of the ancient and the modern.  Age-old monuments stand along futuristic buildings. Hotel stay in Delhi.

Day 2  Delhi - Jaipur (258km/5.5 hours) (B,L,D)

After breakfast at hotel, proceed with the combined sightseeing tour of Old & New Delhi.  In Old Delhi, visit the Jama Masjid – the largest mosque in India and drive past Red Fort – a marvel in red sandstone.  Also visit Raj Ghat – memorial to Mahatma Gandhi.  After this drive past India Gate (memorial to the Indian army soldiers who died in the World War I) the Rashtrapati Bhavan (formely the viceroy’s residence) and the Parliament House.  After lunch at local Indian/Chinese restaurant, proceed with tour of Qutab Minar.  After this drive to Jaipur.  Upon arrival in Jaipur, check-in at your hotel.

Jaipur, popularly known as the Pink City, is the capital of the state of Rajasthan. It has, long been established, on tourist itineraries as the third corner of India's Golden Triangle, just 300 kilometres southwest of Delhi, and 200 kilometres west of Agra. The old city of Jaipur is partially encircled with seven gates - the major gates are Chandpol, Sanganeri, and Ajmeri.

Day 3 Jaipur (B,L,D)

After breakfast at hotel, proceed with tour of Amber Fort Palace with photo stop en-route of the famous Hawa Mahal.  Hawa Mahal, or Palace of the Winds, is one of the major landmarks of Jaipur. This five storey building, which looks out over the main street of the old city, is a stunning example of Rajput artistry, with its pink semioctagonal and delicately honeycombed sandstone windows.

Arrive at Amber and enjoy elephant back ride to ride up to the Fort Palace. 
After lunch at hotel, proceed with the sightseeing tour of city, visiting the City Palace, the principal residence of the ruling family and is known for its stunning architecture.  Part of it is now converted into a magnificent museum.  Also visit Jantar Mantar, a stone observatory raised in the 18th century.  Time permitting, visit cottage industry specializing in hand-woven carpets & textiles.  Witness how silk carpets are handmade.  Evening proceed with visit to the Chokhi Dhani Ethnic village.  Spread over 10 acres of beautifully landscaped area for a rustic look, it is dotted with machaans & platforms where different folk artists perform concurrently.  A village fair is created every evening as an ongoing celebration of the rich & vibrant cultural heritage of Rajasthan.  Enjoy live Rajasthani dance and music performance all through the evening.  Enjoy fun rides on the luxuries of the bygone era – be it camel, a horse drawn Tonga or an elephant.  Have a round of whole village in style, savoring the sights and sounds at a leisurely pace.  After dinner transfer to hotel. Hotel stay in Jaipur.

Day 4 Jaipur - Agra  (232 km / 5.5 hours) (B,L,D)

After breakfast at hotel, depart by surface for Agra, with lunch stop at Bharatpur and visit of the Mosque at Fatehpur Sikri.  Fatehpur Sikri, was built by Mughal Emperor Akbar in 1569 but abandoned due to shortage of water.  See the graceful buildings within the “Ghost City” including the Jama Masjid, Tomb of Salim Chisti, Panch Mahal and other palaces. Upon arrival in Agra, check-in at hotel.

Agra is globally renown as the city of the Taj Mahal. But this royal Mughal city has, in addition to the legendary Taj, many monuments that epitomise the high point of Mughal architecture. In the Mughal period, in the 16th and 17th centuries, Agra was the capital of India. It was here that the founder of the dynasty, Babar, laid out the first formal Persian garden on the banks of the river Yamuna. Here, Akbar, his grandson raised the towering ramparts of the great Red Fort. Within its walls, Jehangir built rose-red palaces, courts and gardens, and Shahajahan embellished it with marble mosques, palaces and pavilions of gem-inlaid white marble.

Day 5  Agra (B,L,D)

After breakfast at hotel, proceed with the sightseeing tour of city, visiting Taj Mahal, one of the 7-wonders of the world built by Shah Jahan to immortalize his love for his wife, Mumtaz Mahal.  The construction is said to have taken 22 years commencing from 1631 with 20,000 craftsmen.  Later visit a cottage industry to witness skilled craftsmen doing fine marble inlay work. (Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays). 

After lunch at hotel, proceed with the sightseeing tour of Agra Fort built during the great Mughal era.  Agra Fort built in 1569 on the banks of the Yamuna River. 

Evening proceed with Barbeque dinner in restaurant. Hotel stay in Agra

Day 6  Agra - Delhi (203km / 4.5 hours) / Hong Kong (B,L)

After breakfast at hotel, depart by surface for Delhi and transfer to airport for departure.
